Ram Island Yacht Club is a family oriented yacht club. We are also very active in sailing. The top priority in our club, is the junior sailing program, which has been recognized as one of the best in this area. The Junior sailing program is not only open to our members'children and grandchildren, but also open to non-member kids who are formally sponsored by an active member. The sponsor's job is to make sure the child feels welcome, and has all the hardware and equipment available to him/her. This has been very successful over the past few years. The majority of our membership, who own boats, are sailors. We have limited facilities. No tennis courts, swimming pool, dinning area, rented slips, etc.. We have a 300 + ft. pier into the Mystic River, which is used by our membership primarily for loading and off loading boats. We have floats, for use by the junior sailing program, and stowage of membership skiffs. We use a town mooring grid for small boats just north of the pier and the surrounding towns have mooring grids for larger boats, in the immediate adjacent area.
