Mid-Winter Brunch 2005
The Mid-Winter Brunch was held Sunday, January 30, at the club for the second year in a row. Commodore Lew Foster welcomed the members and made a presentation of the Black Arrow Award to a surprised and deserving Jim McGuire. The participants feasted on made-to-order omelets, assorted pastries, hash browns, sausage, bacon, and miniature desserts. Liz of Mystic River Baking Company and her team outdid themselves with the delicious and beautifully displayed buffet. To quench onesÕ thirst, John Read manned the bar, serving Mimosas and his special recipe Bloody MaryÕs. Of course, all the ÒusualÓ beverages were also available. The club was turned into a cozy restaurant decorated in club colors with a better view than any other in the area. Yellow tulips brightened the tables and promised springÕs arrival. The house committee did an excellent job of preparing the club, which was nice and toasty warm. Special thanks go to Mike Francis for the curtain he handcrafted and placed in the hall to keep the cold air from the front door out. All members attending had a good time, with several losing track of time. It was a wonderful respite to enjoy the club in the off-season and visit with friends.
Next scheduled event: Commissioning Party, April 23
